Eiichiro Oda's One Piece Has Officially Been Beaten By A Next Gen Manga In 2025
For years, Eiichiro Oda's One Piece has maintained a strong grip on Weekly Shonen Jump and even now, it continues to do so. One Piece is the heartbeat of Shonen Jump, and for good reason. It is the most sold manga in the whole world, and it is highly unlikely that it will ever be beaten in that department. One Piece's popularity is absolutely immense and fans know very well that it will continue to grow even more in the coming years.
But, One Piece manga volumes don't have the same sales that they used to anymore. This is expected, given that One Piece is a manga from 1997 and Shonen Jump is aimed at kids. Most young kids today haven't grown up with One Piece, and a significant portion of those who do read it are probably young adults. Naturally, sales won't stay high for almost 3 decades, and it has shown some decline. For the first half of 2025, One Piece was already beaten in yearly sales by Jujutsu Kaisen, which many consider a next-gen manga, according to the Oricon charts. Since then, One Piece has dropped a new volume, but despite that, it is unlikely that it'll be the most sold manga of 2025.
Jujutsu Kaisen Has Officially Beaten One Piece In 2025's First Half
Jujutsu Kaisen Sales Are Expected To Rise More
- The end of the manga means more backlog sales
- Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was recently announced
For the first half of 2025, Jujutsu Kaisen has been crowned as the best-selling manga in Japan. Jujutsu Kaisen dropped its last volume in December 2024, and sales for the series have been booming since. The backlog sales certainly increased, as did the sales of the last two volumes. Jujutsu Kaisen had 3,325,000 manga sales at the end of May 2025. This number is quite impressive, given that the series hadn't dropped any new volume this year.

Meanwhile, Dandadan was the closest series to it, with 2,493,262 sales. Dandadan was followed by Blue Lock, with 1,836,398 sales, and finally, One Piece was in the fourth spot, with 1,780,000 sales. Clearly, One Piece doesn't look like it'll be the most sold manga of 2025 at all. But, things have changed since May.
One Piece dropped Volume 112, and it has sold around 1.1 million copies since. The total sales for One Piece should be close to 3 million right now. Despite that, however, it doesn't seem like it is close to Jujutsu Kaisen, as the series has also sold more copies since and should be well past the 3.5 million mark right now.

One Piece Could Be Officially Beaten At The End Of 2025
Jujutsu Kaisen Might Be Crowned The Most Sold Manga Of The Year
While Jujutsu Kaisen has officially beaten One Piece, fans should also keep an eye on Dandadan. Dandadan has sold a lot since the mid-year rankings, as has Blue Lock. Dandadan in particular should be close to 3 million as well, with more manga volumes on the way. What's more, Dandadan will likely drop two more volumes this year, which means sales for it could go way over 4 million.
One Piece is also getting Volume 113 in November 2025, but based on the previous volume sales, it looks like it will just miss out on being the most sold manga of 2025. By the looks of it, this year's most sold manga will be very tight between Jujutsu Kaisen, Dandadan, Blue Lock, and One Piece, but Dandadan will likely come out on top.
