Phypers submitted his divorce petition regarding the actor and star of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" on Monday, as confirmed by The Times. The businessman filed the petition in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the separation and indicating July 4 as the date of their split.
A spokesperson for Richards did not promptly reply to The Times' inquiry for a statement.
The 54-year-old "Wild Things" star Richards married Phypers, who is 49, in 2018. Although they do not have any children together, Richards has two grown daughters from her previous marriage to Charlie Sheen. Their marriage lasted from 2002 until 2006. Additionally, Richards is the adoptive mother of a teenage daughter whom she welcomed as a baby.
Phypers was previously married to “Desperate Housewives” star Nicollette Sheridan from 2015 to 2018.
Phypers is said to be requesting spousal support from his estranged wife, as per court documents examined by The Times. In his statement, Phypers claims he has not earned any income since shutting down a business last year and estimates that Richards earns over $250,000 monthly from various business activities, including brand partnerships, television work, and OnlyFans content. Legal documents indicate that Phypers has requested to maintain their assets and liabilities as separate property, which includes his power tools, motorcycle, and sports car.
The couple began their relationship in 2017 and married a little more than a year later in a private ceremony in Malibu. They wed in September 2018, a month after Phypers finalized his divorce from Sheridan.
Though Richards has not publicly commented on Phypers’ decision to file, she made her thoughts on divorce pretty clear earlier this year. In the debut episode of her Peacock series “Denise Richards & Her Wild Things,” Richards said in a confessional interview, “I’m never getting divorced again. Even if we hate each other, I’m not gonna f— get divorced.”
Phypers responded: “No, we’ll just have different homes or something. But we’re not gonna hate each other.”
